The Swedish wave energy developer CorPower Ocean, has announced that they aim to test their novel resonant wave energy converter at the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) in Orkney.

CorPower Ocean AB are developing a wave energy converter which will be tested and evaluated at EMEC in Orkney. The half scale prototype will undergo a dry test period during five months in Stockholm before experiencing an ocean deployment at the EMEC’s scale test site. The idea of the project is to deliver a highly reliable PTO solution by using the innovative WaveSpring control technology, offering a great improvement in performance and cost to the wave energy sector.

Patrik Möller, CEO at CorPower said:

“We are very excited to be partnering with EMEC, as they bring immense amounts of experience and lessons learned from previous wave projects on Orkney. Having shown game changing performance in previous stages, expectations are high for this Stage 3 program.”
