The ocean forms one of the largest yet least explored renewable energy sources on earth. Wavepower has the potential to provide 10-20 % of the world’s total use of energy. CorPower Ocean is a world leading Swedish high-technology team that in a unique and patent way enable robust and cost-effective energy from sea waves. Our WEC is of point absorber type, with a heaving buoy on the surface absorbing energy from ocean waves and which is connected to the seabed using a tensioned mooring line. The design of the principle is inspired by the pumping principles of the human heart and offers five times more energy per ton of device compared to previously known technology.
CorPower was founded in 2012 and has, since then, work towards the goal of bringing a full-scale product to the market. After 18 months of testing and final verification of survival and power generation in Scotland, CorPower has proven that its technology has the underlying physics and technical capabilities to produce electricity at a competitive cost.
CorPower is currently constructing its first full-scale WEC, to be manufactured and dry tested in 2020 and deployed at sea in 2021. As part of this process, they are looking for new team members that want to be a part of bringing renewable energy to the future.
